Christmas Season Spending Madness : The Needs && The Wants @_@

Christmas time should be about giving && caring for others but for some [ probably a lot ] people , the best part about the Holiday Season is receiving presents, gifts, trinkets, treasures, etcetera [ luxuries ] . Well , I could say that`s about 4o% true for me . Every Holiday Season , I anticipate the feeling of being given stuffs that I want . But that`s just plain wrong cuz Christmas time ain`t about the gifts you receive .

I just realized that most of the things that I receive during the Holidays are things I need . Well , some are what I want but the former overpowers the latter . Though that happens , a smile could still be seen in my face cuz I really appreciate the gifts I receive && benefit a whole lot from the "needs gifts" . I thought : So I should ask for things I need , instead of the things I want ."

Difficult as it may seem , I now learned how to ask for things I need this Holiday Season . The experience that taught me that happened yesterday. . . [ here it is ]

My father, middle bro && I went to Gaisano Mall [ after a morning full of work work work in ze house ] at around 4.oo PM . Kuya Janoos && I would be getting our Christmas presents from our dad for that day . My bro wanted a PSP && I wanted a Creative Zen mp3 player [ take note of the verbs , WANTED ] . So , we went to GameCore to buy my bro`s PSP . While waiting for its memory card to be loaded with games my bro chose , my dad && I went up to Wiltelcom to buy my Christmas present .

When I had my hands on that Creative Zen mp3 player , I could not put my eyes off of it . I kept on inspecting it from every possible angle . It simply awed me . Call me weird or abnormal or what , I just couldn`t help it cuz I`ve been wanting this for a loooooooooooong time . Here`s a picture of it :


I loved its interface , color , size , everything ! Its color is simply divine [ sophisticated black , as Maiikx said XD ] . && best of all , its memory !! 8GB . That`s more than enough for me XD [ It costs Php 9,ooo something though ]

While I was admiring it , a voice popped up at the back of my head && it said : "Isn`t your cellphone already an mp3 player ??" That thought hit me like a speeding bullet train . My bro already told me that before we left for Gaisano Mall but I was only half-listening .

I looked at my dad && told him that . He said "Ikaw lang bahala Jam" . So I looked at it from every angle [ again ] . It took me about 5 minutes *or I think it was longer than that* [ while a little debate went through my brain ] till I said : "Wag na lang Dad . Tama si Kuya , okay na itong cellphone ko." My dad smiled && said : "Good decision." . So we left Wiltelcom with my heart heavy from thinking that I`ll never get to own that mp3 player . But in my mind , I was proud of myself for making that difficult decision .

When we went home , that`s the time when I fully realized that I made a really good decision , though difficult at first . I finally knew how not to let my wants overpower me .

So this is a message to all of you . What I did proved to help me && my parents a lot . Although Christmas only comes once a year , it`s not an excuse to ask your parents [ or uncles or aunts or blah blah. . ] to splurge their money so much on you . I mean , it`s okay if what you`re asking for is not really expensive . But when it comes to the thing you really want && it`s uber expensive , think first if this would benefit you . There are special cases though , like if you`re uber rich , then go go go !! Lol XD

I just want to say to everyone that Christmas is not about asking for something that you really want , it`s also knowing how to spare people from spending too much money too (:

P.S. : The Christmas gift that I`m getting from my parents is this [ this isn`t really a need but heck , it costs waaaay lesser than the mp3 player !! XD ] :
